Hydraulic Oil for Headstock?

Post by mcman56 »

My lathe manual calls for Tellus 32 oil. I assume this is ISO 32 oil. Is ISO 32 hydraulic oil the same stuff? The only thing I find locally available is in the link below. Is it appropriate? I also see AW-32 at Lowes, is that the same/ appropriate?

Tellus 32 is a general purpose hydraulic oil that has a lot of equivalents. If you do an Internet search you should be able to fund the product data sheet for Tellus 32 and learn more about it. Incidentally, a non-detergent SAE 5W-20 motor oil is an acceptable substitute.
