Perhaps coat the carbide with anti-flux?

Goop that stops soldering or brazing metal from sticking.

But it still let's the brazing rod flow up to the insert?

I looked for anti-flux but the blurb says it's for soldering [or not-soldering].
Didn't find any for higher temperature.

Until the "Virus" problem is solved You may have a problem getting any of those. I was jut getting ready to buy a set of those. :-(
