Labeling fluid containers

Post by SteveM »

I have some vactra I want to put in a squeeze bottle.

I have a number of different fluids, many of which I can tell by color or consistency, but between vactra 2 and 4, not a lot of difference.

What can I use to label the bottle so that it doesn't come off?

Need the writing to stay on and not dissolve and if it's a label, for the label not to come off.

Do the plastic Dymo labels work?

I thought about covering the label with clear tape, but squeezing the bottle may cause it to lift.

I posted a thread a couple years ago asking basically the same question. I tried a bunch of different things and nothing worked for more than a couple months.

What I settled on has ended up working great. I cut some rings out of aluminum sheet and domed them to fit over/match the contour of the top of the squeeze bottle. So the inner hole of the ring is slightly larger than the bottle threads, but smaller than the cap so it doesn't come off. The outer diameter is slightly less than the bottle diameter, and cupped to the top curve of the bottle. Then I stamped the aluminum rings with what is in the bottle. Made up half a dozen of them so they can be changed when I refill bottles with something else.

There you go .... that's really a good idea.

You could also VERY CAREFULLY use a vibrating engraver...🤪

I have a couple of containers with unknown chemicals in them; one is fertilizer, and the other glyphosate I think.

Labeling; good idea!

Now, where's that vile of mercury??

I have cut a hole in a thin AL disk to fit on the threaded top under the threaded cap.
Hammered the content with the Type Punches.
Overkilled? Yes But done once and never had to fix it.

I have seen washers stamped and wired onto the bottles.
