If I’m the last to discover this, my apologies.
I was treating the bare iron/steel parts of the lathe that I recently purchased with Boeshield T-9. I live on the hot, humid Gulf Coast where rust is always one mistake away. In the process, it seemed that some of the old lubricant/metal stains were loosening. It turns out that Boeshield was a better cleaner of the deposits than mineral spirits, Simple Green, Awesome or lacquer thinner. The lathe doesn’t look like new but it does look like it’s only 2-3 years old instead of 11. The best part was that it loosened the buildup of oils and metal particles in hard to reach spots.
