Sheet Metal Bending Brake Etc

Post by pollys1dad »

Hi,
I'm interested on a hobby level of making boutique tube guitar amplifiers. I've just started to look into sheet metal bending to make the amp chassis, thinking will probably be made from aluminiun. Just had a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brake_(sh ... l_bending)

What sort of equipment is there available for home use hobby level?
Thanks.

First you need to figure how large a piece you are going to bend and the thickness. Your selection will need to deal with that.

You might need what is called a "box and pan" brake, as there are "fingers" you put in so that the bend happens only in some places and not others.

You can't make a box on a plain brake as the sides you have already bent get in the way.

You can see some here:

there are many ways to go...some low cost and some more pricy.

first question: how many of each size of chassis are you going to make.????

the standard for this type of small bender is Diacro.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.
