Understanding Standard Bearing Tolerances?

Post by mcman56 »

I'm trying to understand the standard bearing tolerance for an 80 mm OD deep groove ball bearing. See attachment from https://www.timken.com/resources/10857_ ... s-catalog/.

It looks like an 80 mm od bearing is +0.000 mm to -0.013 mm which is basically + 0 to -0.0005". Is that correct?

We always used 25 microns(25.4) to one Thousandth of a inch
or 25 um = .001"
so if the tolerance is 15 microns, that means about .0006" ( 15/25= .6 )

Edit, so yes , it's + 0.0 & - .0006"

Another one of those inferior system approximations
Too many things going on to bother listing them.
