Woodruff keyway cut. Didn't want it to move so it's blocked with a 1-2-3 block at each end.

Thanks for the report on movement, or the lack thereof. You apparently dodged a bullet.
Like you, I grind with a dead headstock center. It eliminates the possibility of error between the drilled center and the grinding results (eccentricity). I also like to lap the centers before grinding. That, too, eliminates errors in roundness.

I don't recall ever making mention, but I managed to procure an old Excello center lap at auction. Cost was quite good---$100. It required a little work, but it works great now.

Thanks, Harold!

It was an interesting project that gave me the opportunity to do a few things I haven't done in a while. I can't say that I have ever cut a woodruff key seat though.

About a half a day' worth of work spread out over a week.

Very nice indeed. If I produced one applying all my "skill", it would not be nearly so nice.
