Delta Bandsaw pulley dia.

Post by Jim1058 »

I recently purchased a delta model 880? wood/metal bandsaw. it came without the drive pullies and motor. In checking through the available literature the part numbers are listed but the step diameters are not mentioned. I am looking for some help to determine the pulley dia.

You can do the math and go backwards from the surface feet per minute to what size pulleys do you need to go from your motor speed to the wheel speed.

That's what I did when I set up my old bandsaw for my brother converting it to speeds for metal.

We also set up two pulleys on the motor and gearbox input shaft to give him a high and a low so he could cut steel at a lower speed and aluminum at a higher speed.

If you are using the original pulleys, you need to find out what RPM the original motor was.

The motor RPMs is 1750, the small pulley diameter on the motor is 1-3/4,2-1/8,2-5/8,3-1/8 with 1/2 inch bore, the upper pulley is 3-1/8,3-5/8,4,4-1/2 with 3/4 bore, hope this helps you

Thanks for the info. I can do the math backwards but I am missing the gear ratio of the drive gears in the gear box.

Gearbox ratio should be easy to determine. Rotate and count...

The ratio is about 55:1 I will run out of fingers and toes.
