Looking for a Porter Cable G8 owner manual

Post by BadDog »

I'm finally getting back to finishing my G8 project, and would like to try to find a manual for it. Google served up a few sales brochures, but no manual. I've managed to figure out most of what I need to know for it, but would love to have a manual just for general reference.

One thing I haven't figured out is the "wet" system. There is a sort of mister bar under the table that sprays the grit side of the belt as it goes below the table. But I don't see any provision for accumulation of excess coolant. I haven't tried to activate the system yet, but the design seems to imply a very light mist system that operates as a "total loss". Presumably excess coolant along with debris are to be extracted from the bottom collector port? Since I don't have a massive collector system, that could prove problematic. If I use it, and I'm not missing something, I expect that means I'll just have to put in a catch basin of some sort for it to gravity drain into.

You've probably already found this sales material:

There are several people on vintagemachinery.org that have the machine.

Try contacting some of them to see if they have the manual.

For those that want to know what it is, here's a picture:
