New here - Hello!

Post by skunkworks »

Hello and introduction..

I have been a tinker-er for all my life. I love cnc machines and love retrofitting old solid iron. We have a K&T NC machine from the 60's, Matsuura from the 80's, Mazak from the 80's still with its mazitrol t2 control, Cincinnati nc in the que for conversion.. I am a Linuxcnc advocate and love the software/hardware solution. I usually make random videos of what I am working on. Low production quality. 'git er done' style.

Examples... Video when we got the K&T retrofitted..

Latest project.. (small cnc dubbed the green machine)

Random machining content...

Check out the other videos.. (again - marginal quality..)
Hope to contribute!

Welcome and thanks for sharing. Is this your home shop? Is this just a hobby or do you make money doing it?

It is mostly a hobby shop. Mostly my dad's retirement sanity...

I use the access for my own tinkering.

Some one PM'ed me and asked why skunkworks and if I had anything to do with Lockheed....

Sadly - it isn't as exciting as that.

In my younger years I had a dodge stealth twin turbo.. I was always tinkering - bigger turbos, yada yada yada.. My freinds started calling my skunkworks because of A) I owned a stealth and B) I was always tinkering quietly away...
