440 stainless

Happy 4th everone! does anyone know if stainless 440 can be drilled with high speed drill bits?

Never had a problem if the speed is right. (440C)

Just run nice ans low and use cutting oil or you'll get a quick lesson in work hardening!

300 RPM is what I would do with some kind of coolant.

Also, don't let the bit rub the surface, or stall in the hole - it will turn the stainless into urban imperviouso faster than you can blink. Then you'll need a supply of finely ground diamonds to finish the hole.
