Steve Morris

Post by Solar1953 »

Recently, I read somewhere that Steve Morris was once again building his SW1500 switchers. At least, that’s what I think I read. Anyway, does anyone have contact information for him? Thanks.

The Morris switcher is an SW7 in 1 1/2" scale, if I recall correctly. It uses a 5.5 HP engine and a hydrostatic transmission that drives the wheels through drive shafts and Tol-O-Matic gear boxes on each axle. The SW1500 was 1.6 scale and is a lot larger locomotive than the Morris switcher. They were fully hydraulic with a hydraulic motor on each truck. I believe the SW1500 was made by Rail Systems, which I think then changed names or something.

That is good news, though. Those Morris units are good switchers, robust, compact and powerful.
