Electric drive motor specs

Be careful with these large series motors. Unlike shunt or PM motors they have no inherent speed regulation. Connect one to a low resistance power supply such as a battery with no load on the shaft and it can speed up until the armatures explodes.

Series motors deliver torque proportional to current and are normally current controlled.

Thanks John, I corrected my entry above. This is a fascinating technology... i need to learn a lot more about all this...seems to be a pathway to the future.
