Need recommendation on a Automatic Battery 24 charger.
I currently have a on board charger that doesn't automatically shut off.
Need recommendation on a Automatic Battery 24 volt charger.
I'm using 4 - 6V Duracell SLI6V225S
Voltage: 6
Format: BCI Group 901
Lead Acid Type: Deep Cycle
Battery Type: Basic
Capacity 20hr: 250AH
Chemistry: Lead Acid
Lead Acid Design: Flooded
It doesn't need to be on board charger.

Two 12V units, each charging 2 batteries.
Is difficult to equalize charges on many cells. Nothing wrong with treating the system as two subsystems.
Battery Keeper(s) are an option too.

Are they wired in series or parallel?

The OP says the batteries are 6V and the system is 24V is highly probable they are wired in series

Morning John,
I would suggest something like this, these multi bank charges work great, they will tend each battery so they are always charged correctly

Assuming that the 4 batteries will be wired in series that gives a 24 volt 250 aH battery. After some online searching it seems as if golf cart battery chargers are your best bet. Example:
https://www.batterystuff.com/battery-ch ... i2420.html
If the batteries will be sitting for any length of time I would recommend putting them on a Battery Minder to prevent sulfation on the lead inside the battery. Using a battery minder even intermittently has kept my aircraft battery viable for far longer than without.
https://www.batteryminders.com/batterym ... esulfator/
It will also keep the batteries charged up. However, if you need an overnight recharge the golf cart battery charger is the way to go. The Battery Minder at the deep cycle battery charge of 2 amps would take you 62.5 hours to recharge assuming the batteries were 50% depleted.
Disclaimer: I'm not an electrical engineer or battery expert so any mistakes are not willful only ignorant.

I own a '99 Dodge 3500, which was purchased new. It has a 10' box on the back (I purchased a cab and chassis). The truck is not driven routinely (it has only 27,000 miles to its credit at this point), so I added a Sears battery minder to it years ago.EOsteam wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 1:01 pm If the batteries will be sitting for any length of time I would recommend putting them on a Battery Minder to prevent sulfation on the lead inside the battery. You just can't buy good products anymore. The twin batteries I purchased when the originals died lasted only 13 years. Thanks to the $25 minder, that was possible.
I strongly endorse their use. I have five of them now.

My 24 volt jeep buds (yes, have the green disease also) routinely comment that charging the two 12 volt batteries together can result in unequal charging if one battery is weaker than the other. They recommend charging them separately.
Many do however use battery minders. Not sure how that squares, but there it is.

that is why i suggested the unit abovemakinsmoke wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 8:02 am My 24 volt jeep buds (yes, have the green disease also) routinely comment that charging the two 12 volt batteries together can result in unequal charging if one battery is weaker than the other. I'm using a two outlet 'Battery Tender' to charge Sparky's two, 12v, batteries independently.

There is 4 - 6 volt batteries in series for a total of 24 volts.
