Re: Are there any paint experts among us?
Then there are the paint numbers I have found.
Here is what I have found on Pullman Green.
The first number I came up with was Dupont 5502 this is from C&NW passenger locomotive paint diagrams.
Dupont 5502 crosses to PPG 81649 This is the color and paint that I have used and it looks like Pullman green to me.
Now it gets fun. PPG 81649 does NOT cross back to Dupont 5502.
PPG 81649 crosses to Dupont 4558. Dupont calls this color Pullman Green.
Now you take Dupont 4558. It crosses to PPG 42791.
Then take PPG 42791 and you will come back to Dupont 4558.
That is 4 color numbers that in theory should be the same color.
When the Pullman Company stopped operating sleeping cars in 1969, they received more than a few inquiries requesting memorabilia or authentic Pullman supplies. This correspondence is in the Pullman collection at the Newberry Library in Chicago. One of the requests was for the paint numbers for "Pullman Green". The answer was:
1. PPG #66571
2. Minnesota Paints #7030-10
These would obviously be the last truly authentic versions of the color.

I'm curious are you asking what the numbers are about behind the color ? start with the first color lowest number and work your way up on a scale by weight that is the way we mix paint at the body shop I work at let, me know if this helps?

What brand of paint are you using? Are you able to cross the DuPont numbers?ERIE S-1 BERKSHIRES wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 6:57 pm I'm curious are you asking what the numbers are about behind the color ? start with the first color lowest number and work your way up on a scale by weight that is the way we mix paint at the body shop I work at let, me know if this helps?
