Insurance is $1854/yr. This is completely separate from our other business. Although this was never intended to be a money-maker, we hope to at least recoup annual costs. Time will tell.

Actually very reasonable
Too many things going on to bother listing them.
Re: Refurbishing my Railroad
Nice to see your railroad apparently now in operating condition.
It has been a long haul for you!

Re: Refurbishing my Railroad
Thanks Russ! It’s been quite a learning experience having known nothing about 7-1/2 gauge railroad 6 years ago. I spent a few hours at a backyard railroad in Alpine CA and a half day at Train Mountain picking their brains. Except for a few days of help from my son and daughter, I did just about everything myself. I farmed out sandblasting the frames, but I sandblasted all the trucks and manually stripped the locomotive and caboose. All the wood bases in the gondola cars was rotted and replaced. Hardware is all stainless. Everything was taken to bare metal and zinc primered and painted. Every wheel bearing had to be replaced. One electric motor was replaced. Original controller was replaced with a 4QD unit. Sound card was replaced with a Phoenix unit and then with a Dallee card. I originally tried to just replace the really bad aluminum rail with steel, but ended up with all new steel rail. Removing the 6000+ salt air exposed screws from the original rails was a real PITA. Delays getting the two shipments of rail shipped took months. In the mean time I had a 4800 sq ft building erected on the lot and bought a 1908 wood sided caboose (I have the best wife ever!)
So happy with the results! The train runs great and the kids love it! Looking forward to building a water tower, even though it’s not a steam engine, I just like the look. Would also like a covered loading platform for when the train is sitting outside and it starts to rain.
