Gauging interest
I've come into some molds and would like to know if the group would be interested in me pulling parts from them. See below. For reference, the tender is approx. 39 inches long.
No idea on costs yet, but pricing will be fair since I can do them in the shop. If anyone recognizes them, that would be helpful, as they came with no "backstory".
Thanks!
Chris

A little locomotive with 4 wheels on the track is a lot more fun
than a 1/2 finished one with 16 wheels on the bench!

Re: Gauging interest
I do know railroad Supply used to build emd F-7's and B units and the tender does look like the railroad Supply and the other one looks like a Railroad Supply also .but the last two they look like a little engines RS3 Mike offered them when they moved to Pennsylvania I believe for a very short time

Re: Gauging interest
Could these be from the old E&S lines in Florida? our club has an F7 A unit that has a fiberglass body on it that came from them. I think they ceased production about 15 years ago or so. They offered more than just an F unit.

Re: Gauging interest
Nice having an A F-unit body complete. I’ve seen a few nose castings, then you have to build the body.
Those F bodies will work for F3’s and the first two sets of Santa Fe F7’s. Wire screens in the dynamic location, standard on F3’s were replaced after 200-201 LABC F7’s with the standard F7 circular fan.
Chicken wire side screens on the F3’s were replaced with two types of stainless louvers.

I would be interested in an RS-3 shell
Re: Gauging interest
E&S lines made the F7 and either a Gp7 or gp9. The early ones had a lighter duty hydraulic system and a 5.5 engine. The later engines, had a V twin and I'm 90% sure slightly heavier duty cooling/hydraulics. They were available in A/B units, slugs. Remember seeing a ABBA or similar set in Rio grande and ATSF at one point.

We need more ALCO's!

Re: Gauging interest
ALCO's, yes, but nobody has yet produced the Fairbanks Morse H15-44 or H16-44. The earlier Lowey style being the sexier of the H16-44 releases. Talk ab out a neglected line of Diesel locomotives!

Re: Gauging interest
If I acquired/built a 7.5" gauge dismal, it would be an FM H12-44.
I've engineered the real locomotive, and also an ALCO RS-4/5.
Both locos are wonderful low rpm pullers.

I am interested in the price for a Rs3 shell. Please keep me informed if you start to make them.
