Buckeye truck castings

Post by Ken Schroeder »

I have just completed the first set of Buckeye roller bearing 3 axle trucks from my new patterns in 1/1/2" scale. All rough unmachined grey iron castings cost is $1050.00 plus the flat rate shipping costs. You will need to supply the axle material and ball bearings. If interested contact me at shaylocomotives@charter.net. I have to complete the drawings for the castings and will be ordering castings in the next month or two.

Additional information on the Buckeye trucks. The price is for 2 trucks. Each truck consists of 6 castings for the side frames, 6 wheels, 6 journal boxes, 6 bearing covers, 2 bolsters and the center beam connecting the bolsters. 27 castings per truck for a total of 54 castings. You need to supply axle material (3/4"), springs (McMaster-Carr and bearings. All castings are grey iron the same material that my Shay castings were from.

Hoppercar,
These are the more modern style with the timken type bearing caps. The bearing housing is a separate casting from the side frames.

Nice work,
Are you going to offer an air brake set up or plans for air brakes for these ?
