Yes, when copies of your book that ought to be selling for $39.99 are selling for $250, that's God's way of telling you that you need to re-print it.

It is the closest thing to free money, and yet they are turning it down. I'm not a member of the family that holds the rights, so I don't know their reasoning, but from out here, it looks illogical.

Another book I want is being bootlegged and sold on ebay for $200-$300. Original copies are selling for close to a grand.

I'd almost want to see a modification to copyright law that if you refuse to continue printing, it goes into the public domain. That won't reduce the author's royalties one cent.

Yeah copyright laws are funny about somethings. authors life plus 70 years. The writer passed in 2011, His body of work is in the care of the Cranbrook Educational Community
Acquisition: Access: Copyright: Magazine Index: Processing: Stephen Farr Booth Papers (1925-2011) Papers, 1939-2009. 2005-06 Items were given to the Archives in June 2005 with subsequent deposits by Stephen F. Booth and his wife, Elizabeth B. Booth. Access to the collection is unrestricted. Copyright to this collection is held by the Cranbrook Educational Community

That last line is why it will probably never be republished.

But, I will have to look around I know I have a copy that I'm willing to let go of since it's so hard to find. When I find it I'll toss it up here. Sorry Tom not trying to hijack your thread.

Cranbrook ties together a lot of things about Steve. I did not know he was George and Ellen Booth's grandson and a Cranbrook alum, it makes total sense he'd leave his works there.

So, essentially, a nonprofit is not interested in what is literally free money.
