A Job Done on a 3in1

Post by TimTheGrim »

I don’t have a 3in1 but I just found an old CD with some pics I saved from a now defunct forum. A guy who went by Postino posted these C96 Broomhandle Mauser re-barrel pics 7 or 8 years back and I saved them before the forum got hacked and vanished.
The link is to my Postimage page where I uploaded to.

I hope this gives you 3in1 folks an idea what great work can be accomplished with your tools.

Thanks for posting. Good work can be done on a 3-in-1 if you are patient, work carefully, and plan ahead. Everyone here hates them without ever having taking them for a test drive.

A little locomotive with 4 wheels on the track is a lot more fun
than a 1/2 finished one with 16 wheels on the bench!

I do not hate them but my idea of a 3 in 1 is a bit different:

Three lathes that I can setup to make one part

Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I wish I had the shop space for that.

My 3-in-1 may be the red-headed stepchild of machining tools, but it's way ahead of no machining tools. Since getting it 9 or 10 years ago, my thought process has gone from "Where the hell am I going to get one of these?" to "How the hell am I going to set up to make one of these?" to "I bet this cheap broken plastic bit would last longer if I made one of these out of metal."

Ah... totally agree with you -> been there done that.

Fortunately I now have space for 4 accumulated lathes and 3 manual mills...plus other stuff....before I get into the Quonset hut farm building where I keep my CNC mill, and the big machines...that I rarely use because it is a 2 building is either too hot or too cold it too cluttered...
