Hi folks,
I was given a box of carbide tooling to do with what I please. It was suggested I figure out what I'd like to keep and have them reground.
This is a pretty substantial box. I'd say 30-50 pounds of tooling.
Is there any value in the carbide itself? If so, where might I go to best dispose of them (perhaps with the best bang for the buck)?
Suggestions appreciated. I'd hate to just throw this stuff in the scrap bin.
Mike

Scrap carbide has value on ebay.
Sales appear to range from 8 to 10 per pound.
A 49 lb lot just sold for about $400.
Keep some stuff that is quality stuff to resharpened (resharpening is cheap compared to the cost of a quality tool) and pay for it by selling the rest.

Seco tools recycles carbide.
Not sure if they take stuff from random sources but they have been recycling from customers for many years.

Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Kennametal buys scrap carbide and will even send you a box .
Value depends on the market of course but expect between $5-$8 a pound
