Can someone here explain how there is no need for vents? How is it that there is no problem with air pockets preventing the metal from flowing in? I asked this on another forum where the maker of the video posted it. The author of the video even show how he made experiments with top down and bottom up feeds. One suggestion is the ceramic shell is porous. Any thoughts? I must be missing something about the process.

Yes, the ceramic shell is indeed porous...

I have done some ceramic shell, but they are all fairly large castings, were done in Lost Foam, and top gated.
They were burned out in an oven for ceramics.
The side rods came out ok in C99700, I gave up on iron several decades ago.
The real size bell hanger is yet to be poured in A319, just haven't found the time.
There are no vents because of my top gating, I hope, let all the gasses out.
When I did Lost Foam in CO2 sand, and bottom gated, I had lots of risers.
