I'm not sure your time-wasting is relevant here.Harold_V wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 3:18 pmI spent yesterday cleaning out the rain gutters on our pump shed and storage building. When that was done, I cleaned off the shingles with a leaf blower. We have several hemlocks, and they're notorious for dropping needles and miniature cones. For that reason, I was unable to spend any time watching the highly scientific crap you mentioned.

Understood! Just wanted to let you know why I missed that seriously important and highly educational movie you spoke of.SteveHGraham wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 3:48 pmI'm not sure your time-wasting is relevant here.Harold_V wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 3:18 pmI spent yesterday cleaning out the rain gutters on our pump shed and storage building. To add to my waste of time, I also stopped long enough to enjoy a nice, hot, home cooked supper. I don't seem to have much respect for the important things in life.

You're still young. You can change.

Ehhhh? What's that you said, sonny?
I eat my peas with honey. Done it all my life.
Makes the peas taste funny----
but it keeps them on the knife.

Last scene I remember that they got right, was in a John Wayne movie. The guy on the ridge took a shot with his Sharps, you could see the muzzle blast, a couple a seconds later a guy down below was hit....and then you heard the blast. Don't remember which flick it was.
But how about that....the correct order of things....
I think that was "Joe Kidd" with Clint Eastwood.
Then everyone starts shooting at the sniper with pistols and he tells them not to, they can't hit the sniper from there. he gets behind a rock and spends some time assembling his own rifle, then shoots the sniper off the ridge.

I remember years ago when the movie "Das Boot" came out.
A friend, who was an expert in German arms said that the only thing he could find that was wrong was that the grips on the captain's pistol were wrong. The PISTOL was correct, but the grips were wrong.

They always wear arc welding shields when lighting a cutting torch, and cutting googles when holding an arc welding stick.
Other [currently more common] forms of welding are rarely depicted.
I can overlook it all if the writing is believable on a human level. When machines don't act realistically I'm bothered, but I understand.
When humans don't act realistically, we kill it and delete.
All those millions they spend making a movie, yet they still live or die on the back of the script writing.

Hey, I saw a sniper curve a bullet around a building by swinging the muzzle and hitting someone a mile away. That's Hollywood!

What bugs me the most in advertising is gears.
Gears with square or trapezoidal teeth, gear next to each other with different modulus.
As we are on the subject...
The Life alert commercial warning "This is a real emergency situation and it may offend you" A poor woman at the end of the stairs fallen in pain needing help. Real emergency? Can you visualize the camera crew, the sound technicians, the staging, the retake because it was not dramatic enough.
The only thing that offends my is the insult to my intelligence
