Just wondering if anyone has built their own indicator rods for barrel crowning? I thougnt of using my bore sighter rods as well? I know I could buy them but I have more time than money. I have tried machining brass rod but the .22 barrels I have seem to have a tight spot right at the crown. When I make the rod fit that it has play when i run it down into the bore.
Thanx for any input

O.K. I'll admit my ignorance. What are you talking about? I mean, what are range rods used for when crowning a barrel?

Read the below thread over on Practical Machinist, saves me from retyping. Pay attention to my posts, I discuss indicating pins and show photos of them in use. Two pages, be sure to read all pages. I will grab a photo and post in this thread.
Bore Sighter pins are not snug enough, and you need a box full in each caliber to handle differences in bore sizes.
