i am having trouble finding a short barrel to fit my mod 37 ITHACA 12gage.
i have tried NUMRICH, and the catalog website shows an 18, 1/2inch
barrel, for a 5 shot magazine. when they sent me confirmation on the
order, it shows a 20ga. i sent them back an e-mail, and said not 20ga,
i need a 12ga. i was then told the catalog website was incorrect. the
catalog also list 20inch barrel, 8 shot, but i would need a longer magazine tube.
QUESTION, does anyone know if there was an extension tube made for the
5 shot magazine, to convert it into an 8 shot magazine. also, i assume i would
need a longer magazine spring if i installed this part. any help appreciated.
thanks.

I have never seen such an extension tube offered for sale. The 8 round barrel was intended to be used on the police riot gun which (of course) came equiped with the longer magazine tube. Having said that, making one should not be that much of a problem for a machinist, can you do that yourself?

SIR,
the thread on the end of the magazine tube appears to be a square thread.
however the thread, (lands) are .030-.033 wide, and the grooves are
.050 wide. the pitch is 11, 1/2 tpi. do you know anything about this
thread? appreciate any help. thanks.

Re: installing 20inch barrel on mod 37 ITHACA
Shorter barrels should be available, at least in the used dept. I was looking for a longer one to put on my stakeout, which is a model 37, but after I found out I couldn't put a buttstock on it, the idea kind of died. (After I had purchased an extra buttstock for it, and it came with a matching one) So now I have 2 buttstocks and can't use either one of them. I think I found some listings at the time for some of them on Gunbroker (forthehunt.com) but as auction sites go, it is hit or miss as to what is available.
My barrel is 13" long, and is a Class III weapon, something you can still do with yours, but the price to shorten the barrel would be a $200 tax, paid in advance. Mine came from the factory as an AOW, so it is only a $5.oo tax. Yours would be an SBS (short barrel shotgun) since it came with a buttstock. David from Jax
