Can anyone give me any info on how the recoil mechanism of a "hydra-shock"
stock works. The stock moves in both directions with no resistance. No
indication of fluid leaking. Is it gas powered? Who can repair it? I believe
the gun was built for my Uncle in the 1950's.
Thank you for any help forth coming.

Mod. 12 help
It had shock absorber mechanisms ...
in the butt. Sounds like the fluid is long gone from bad seals or the internal valves are stuck. My guess is the former. Probably can't get replacement parts but you could try the usual sources for gun parts like Gun Parts, Sarco, etc.

George and Bill,
Would either of you know where info on disassembly could be found?
Winchester has no records anymore. I would prefer to find someone to do
the work, as the gun has some value.
Bill,
Did the brackest for the BP reader work for you?

Maybe the NRA Firearms Disassembly books would ...
have info. You could also call 530-251-8809 and ask if anyone there (Lassen College Gunsmithing) knows how to do it. You can tell them I sent you if they don't seem helpful at first.
Just guessing, I would feel around the recoil pad to see if I could find the screw holes, then try to remove the screws if I found any, and take it from there.

George,
Thanks for the info. I'll contact the NRA and the College.
I hope I don't have to get into it.
