Re: Electrical Wiring DOES Degrade with Time

What is the best, in y'all's opinion, cord to use when wiring up a machine in a shop environment? I always thought some or sjoow we're good choices because they remain flexible and are pool resistant. But I too have seen it degrade faster than I expected

Re: Manual Lathe is Dead

I have a friend who has a rf45 converted to CNC. He drives it through mdi when he isn't running a program. I would rather have a full manual machine than drive it that way. Far easier and faster to make small adjustments to something by hand than one line at a time. Plus, if I start to turn a crank ...

Re: Castor wheels for the mill

You can use a bottle Jack as the pump if you can seal off the cylinder and tap into it

Re: Castor wheels for the mill

Many low end floor jacks use o-rings and while they don't last as long as u-cups, they do the job.

I've used this site's numbers before and they seem to work for the stuff I've used them for

Re: China tooling....

You must get different ads from wish than I do. I always thought the stuff seemed kind of sketchy, and from the memes I see, I'm not the only one. I was always leery of AliExpress too but I did order some stuff from there and it was legit. I guess caveat emptor and ymmv! Good to know they are willin...

Re: Basic Blasting Cabinet Set Up?

A small compressor will exacerbate any moisture issues you have because the air never gets a chance to cool before it leaves the tank.

Re: Castor wheels for the mill

Looks about like the work I did to build casters for a customer. I went with double row ac bearings for the swivel because it was more compact than separate bearings. I used the original forks because the customer wanted the locking mechanism that they used. I did have to replace all of the wheel be...

Make sure you give it time to discharge the caps, or at least verify they are discharged.

Re: Boring a Bearing Race

This is one of those situations where "somebody" will say soft Jaws are king. 😉 ... It is quite easy to distort a bearing race. They 're hard, and can shatter, but that doesn't prevent them from distorting. I learned that lesson the hard way when I used a pair of bearings on the jib crane...

Re: Can you heat treat small parts at home?

I assume you need a regulator or dual connector of some sort to blend them? The kit I bought way back when was just a dual hose with knobs on top of the cans. Nothing more elaborate than that. ever seen an oxy acetylene torch and regulators? just be VERY CAREFUL with pure oxygen....reacts violently...

Re: Boring a Bearing Race

It absolutely can and will distort a hollow part like that. Don't believe me? Take it out, rotate it 45 degrees to the now-high spots, and re check. This is one of those situations where "somebody" will say soft Jaws are king. 😉
