Re: Large riveting job
I have used #2 Stainless Steel Drive Screws by the gross as a no-holding decoration on several projects. The two Turntables I constructed have many, as will the new bridge I have yet to build. Here is a Little Engines 0-6-0 that I started waaaaay back (It still runs only on air) which has #2DS's for...

Re: 7.x gauge 3-way switch
You will have trouble finding a 1/8th scale Switchtender to continually sweep ballast and other junk out of those Forty points!
In HO, all ballast is glued in place.
Here is what my standard 16 ft points look like:

Re: cutting the column on a drill press - how much to cut?
Here is my version of a small column Mill/Drill: http://www.servoproductsco.com/html/drill_press_with_elbow_and_dee.html It has an Albrecht Chuck and runout is .0002. The largest cutter/drill it can use is 0.125", so if it flies out because you did not tighten enough, zero damage is done. I bou...

Twenty Years!
Twenty Years! Yep, today I have been a member of this site for 20+ years. It is plus because I started under a different name, that I could not find my password for in 2003. Been a great 20 years for me, in 2003, I was reworking a 50’s B&S Mill which can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: The $460.19 oil change.....
I used to do almost all repairs myself, but getting "Out and under" is beyond my physical ability now. I just had my Toro Dingo serviced/repaired and labor was 80% of my bill! It spent too many days not being covered, gotta take better care of it. So, I will pretend all the labor I saved o...

Re: Soil Steamer
Finding plans for such a steamer may make your day, but if I were doing it I would go for a bigger Electric Steamer. There all kinds of heating rods available, and a metal box is much easier to fashion than a boiler! Here in Lake County Illinois, Deer can only be harvested with Cross Bows, which I h...

Re: Soil Steamer
Yep, 6 beds is too much for an electric soil device of one cubic foot. What kind of vegetables will you grow that requires so much sterilization. Will eating vegetables grown in your un-sterilized soil affect those who eat them? I just have a 16'x16' veggie garden for ordinary stuff, and with ordina...

Re: Soil Steamer
Just found one that will make thinks real simple for you 32 square feet of soil: https://www.gothicarchgreenhouses.com/s ... ilizer.htm
Those guys have Steam Generators near the bottom of their site, but they may be too expensive for such a small project.

Re: Soil Steamer
I had a commercially made electrified box that sterilized soil. You may only need such a box, at ~ 1 cubic foot, try eBay, etc. Jim, the biology teacher who ran the Greenhouse on the schools roof, thru it in my direction when he was cleaning stuff out, I tried it a couple of times, but a few years l...
