Ford Trimotor airplane
Hardly junk, but maybe interesting info. There is a group of ex AF mechanics who are putting back in flying condition the "Tin Goose" Ford Trimotor plane that carried passengers to Kelly's Island in Lake Erie. The group is working out of Port Clinton, Ohio and has been on the Cleveland new...

Big OOPS.
This is what happens when I don't listen to the better half about moving the tools out of the garage (workshop). Oops.jpg We are just south, west and east of the 5 tornadoes that hit the Cleveland area. Allegedly this was just straight line wind. Tree cleanup will cost a arm, and a new car the other...

Re: Bifocal safety glasses
My friend and I have magnifying visors for just this reason.

Most likely they can be found at less expensive stores, but they work well for verniers and other "must see" situations.

Dunlap screwdriver
I found this Dunlap screwdriver in my Dad's tool stash and wondered if anyone of you had ever seen another like it.

Producto Mill Info Requested
Gentlepeople: I have an old (?) Producto mill that is small and somewhat useful. My dad added the grey drive motor that advances the x axis instead of the odd drive shaft that was original. My dad was the 4th owner that I know of. Producto Mill#1.JPG Nameplate.JPG Does anyone out there have any info...

Re: Using Forstner bit To Drill 19mm Hole in Aluminium
I'd use a hole saw for that and clamp it between pieces of wood as ChipsAhoy suggested.
Good luck.

I'll see if I still have a cylindrically ground part from this setup.
Thanks for your interest.

Re: Brown and Sharpe Micrometer Information
This subject was discussed in 2020 here: https://www.chaski.org/homemachinist/viewtopic.php?t=109550&hilit=brown+sharp&start=12 Included is the fixture I made for just this issue of adjusting the zero. I know that the .010 is set on the mic but that is because the barrel is turned so the lit...

Re: Surface Grinder Rebuild
This is the fixture I built to grind cylindrical tapers like a Morse or B&S. The motor drive is necessary to grind a cylindrical taper. It is a tilting table that pivots around a center pointed to by the large arrow in the first picture. The smaller arrow shows the taper adjusting screw. cylindr...

Re: Surface Grinder Rebuild
Everything that Harold said about replacing 3phase motors with single phase, and using unbalanced motors and pulleys, happened to me when I set up my Delta Toolmaker tool and cutter grinder. Finish is as Harold described, not a smooth finish to the eye but smooth to the fingers. Fortunately I was sh...

My friend says thank you very much. He looked a lot on YouTube but didn't do a Google search.
I'll let you know if it works for his project.
Thanks again for the links.
