Yes I could see John Deere doing this. Makes it a proprietary part ,that you can only get from them. Does the cylinder have an end cap that can be unscrewed, or pinned or is the cylinder completely welded? Is the rod threaded on the end or is it welded? You could try Bailey hydraulics for a cylinder...

Bought the same Clausing mill about a year ago . Looks like it was used once or twice. Came with the overarm supports and 3 horizontal arbors still new in the boxes. The Bridgeport adaptor would be a nice addition. Haven't decided yet whether I'll keep the machine or sell it
