If it is maximat, then You can try so called "milling attachment".
But I wouldn't bother with one if your lathe is from unimat or compact series.

Yes and no, usually they are not " true" hss, but "only" so-called powder hss(some say they are much better than "real" thing).

You can find vfd with a 1 PH in and 3 PH out, but they are usually smaller units - I newer saw(second hand) one bigger than 3kW(4HP).

Oak and beech can cause corrosion, the same goes for boards that uses UF resins as a binder.TomB wrote: I have found that wood holes to stick things into or boards drilled and then split, rust the tools they hold. I don't know why.

Few years ago someone here(or at practicalmachinist) post a link to quality scans of this book.
Keep in mind it is(more or less) "trade catalog" - but rather in good way(like J. Martin "Tabletop machining" - just pleasant to read).
