Re: Rotary Table
I get continuous rotation with my B&S 18" table. Never finding the correct drive for that table, I had to jury rig a set of gears, as shown below, but it gets the job done. The real question for me, is how often do I use it, last time that drive was used is the attached photo; 18 years. Luc...

Rotary Table
Got an email from a company I never heard of:
http://files.rotectools.com/pLBrochureP ... xP2023.pdf
It looks like the right size for the guy who must have it!
Did not see any price, and I have an 18" and 10" B&S Table for my mills.
I need no more.

Brown & Sharpe History
In January I bought a 2017 book written about Brown & Sharpe Company, I just got around to reading it this May. I have been looking for many years for a book that describes the details of Brown & Sharpe metal working machines, this was not it. This book was written mainly about the Sharpe fa...

Re: Brown & sharpe machine
If that machine is as old as predicted, then that bearing would be a bronze bushing?
You could press it out, and make a new one on your lathe?

Yep, my shop has the same kind of appearance today! I used to keep it pristine, but that was when I was younger! Is your problem that Quill, or something else? I assume the table cranks up and down, so, tho nice to have the quill moving, it could be locked in place. No doubt it has a B&S inside ...

Re: Did you pull any weeds today?
A friend of mine started an xmas tree farm in Wisconsin and he gave me some of the weed killer he used to clear around the trees. At only 3 grams per gallon of water, the amount I have will last me a longtime. I only use it on the rite of way, and usually keeps stuff down for several months. Mine wa...

Re: Brown & sharpe machine
Right now, it appears you have NO Mechanical Advantage with that motor pulley where it is. So the motor RPM should equal the machines RPM. Can the motor pulley be moved downward? Probably there should be a three position pulley on the motor, if you need different speeds, but your solution should als...

Re: Brown & sharpe machine
That is a rather strange B&S vertical mill, I finally got around to looking thru my B&S catalog collection and I find nothing like it? My oldest B&S catalog is 1890, the base of this mill looks rather crude for 1890, most bases in every catalog have a storage compartment with a door, tha...

Re: So You Want To Cut Some Metal?
I bought a Milwaukee Metal Saw a long time ago, it was a lot cheaper then: https://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-6370-20-8-Inch-Cutting-Circular/dp/B0000WUQHU/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2LX1BXA0XFPDJ&keywords=milwaukee+metal+cutting+saw&qid=1684158476&sprefix=milwaukee+metal%2Caps%2C311&sr=8-3 It ha...

Re: File machine drawings
Dimensional Analysis should be used in Physics and Engineering classes, if it is not, there is a big hole in a students understanding of how to determine what unit the problem is in. D.A. allows for the use of algebra in determining whether the units you are using, are really related to what you thi...
