Re: KDK Tool Holder (odd)
The 156 tool holder is a fraction under 2" high with a centered 5/8" slot (+0.050"), so minimum of about 1-1/4" tool height. KDK is now defunct, but you can still find the catalog here: www.viperlogic.com/files/KDK%20Catalog.pdf I am thinking about getting rid of the KDK the prev...

Re: KDK Tool Holder (odd)
It will not only fit... all series will. From the KDK catalog: NOTE: The dovetail dimensions are the same on 0, 100, 150, and 200 Tool Posts which allows bars from these series to be interchangeable. However, if using larger series tool holder on smaller tool post, you must have enough center height...

Re: KDK Tool Holder (odd)
I have a KDK-106 and a KDK-156. The 156 is a larger/fatter version of the 106 and looks like the pictures. It has KDK-AIA stamped inside the dovetail.

Re: Can someone identify this lathe for me?
Its a SinoMech C0630 bench lathe, rebadged under several names. 300x550mm or roughly 11.5"x20". Looks to have a built in gearbox oil pressure lubricator, which is nice. The headstock looks to have changed slightly in 40-some years, but still seems to be made today (yours looks to be the or...

Re: Clark lathe info and parts?
For future reference, the Clark 13x40 lathe is a rebadged RunMaster 330RR "High Speed Precision Lathe". Specifically, a model Run-330RRx1000 of Run-330x1000RR (depending on which spec sheet you look at). Mine turns out to be a Jan 2005 production date, though RunMaster is still building th...

Clark lathe info and parts?
Does anyone have a source of info and parts for a Clark 13x40 gap lathe? (Clark, no "e"). Other than some sparse info about Clark being the distributor for a Chinese cast/Taiwanese built manufacturer, a single youtube video of the lathe in question from a defunct surplus dealer, and an eal...

Re: Can someone tell me what type of lathe this is?
Looks a lot like a Voest lathe, but I can not place the model and the tailstock does not look right. I am pretty sure I have seen this somewhere, I think it was called a the "varispeed lathe" and the model number ended in "VS", but the manufacturer and model number is elluding me...

Re: Sources for small amounts of metal stock
In addition to what Mr Ron posted, I would add: http://www.discountsteel.com/ http://www.metalsdepot.com/ http://www.use-enco.com/ http://www.mscdirect.com/ As well as your local scrap yard, Larger yards often have a for sale section, bundles of pipe, plate, and drops of all shapes that were brought...

How to diagnosis/fix drill chuck
I have a bit of a quandry... I have a 1/2" solid-shank R8 keyless drill chuck on my mill. Previously it had somewhere around 1 or 2 thou of TIR along the length (I don;t remember exactly) and I had never had a problem with it. A couple months ago the chuck face started coming loose. I retighten...

Re: Leak in New Harbor Freight Shop Press
Theoretically, the outer casing/tank should unscrew from the base, place the base in a vise and a wrench on the top collar. Should lift off the top of the piston, there is an o-ring between the piston and the case for dirt/grime/tank leaks. Inside, there is a pressure cylinder also screwed into the ...

Re: Would You Buy Used Tanks?
The technical school had a CO2 bottle with Nazi stamping and an original date of 1936. Lots of life if you treat them right! I never really thought about that. The Germans and Austrians must have had a lot of great industrial surplus after their total humiliation by the Allies. Or they were conside...
