Re: When that Gerstner box just isn't big enough

How about 5 Gerstner clones?

Thinking about making a sixth. Anyone know where to get hardware for the mirror? I have sources for the other pieces.

Re: Show us your lathe!

Perhaps two sheets of 1/2" ply, with some MDF sandwiched between to add mass?

Re: LeBlond Lathe

As a LeBlond owner, I'd jump on this. The L1 spindle is two sizes bigger than my L00, so the through spindle should be larger. Look at the headstock gears; make sure none are chipped. Look at the lead screw for wear. Unless a LOT of threading was done, or the operator used the lead screw for routine...

Re: Show us your lathe!

As for location, I am located on the East central coast of Florida. Basically due east of Orlando, FL. Excellent. The company I worked for for 25 years has a location in Orlando; I made a few trips down there. The beefier the stand, the better. On larger lathes, I'd estimate 30% of the weight is in...

Re: Show us your lathe!

Welcome aboard! Might I suggest you put your location in your profile? It doesn't have to be GPS accurate -- just general. The crew here is very giving, and especially so if they live nearby.

And nice score!

Thanks, Pat!

No injuries is always good news. I say "Things can be replaced; people can't!"

Also, congratulations on the (semi) retirement! I'm into year two of my full retirement and starting to get my bearings.

Re: Atlas drilling machine

I agree with Pete's last paragraph: odds are, the bearings were standard, third party parts, are identified by number, and are easily replaced by new equivalents.
