Re: wire feeder welder
I've got one of the Horror Fright "no-gas" wire welders, still in the box, and I'm wondering just how much trouble it will give me once I fire it up. But like Red said, the wire seems to be key. Reading the reviews online, even on their own site, it appears that their proprietary wire does...

Re: Making a sharps barrel in my lathe.
Yep. They call it a "cherry", presumably because in the days of round ball, the cutter looked like one. Do a Google on (bullet mold cherry) and you'll see a lot of references. Google seems to ignore the difference between "mold" and "mould" but you might want to check b...

Re: Making a sharps barrel in my lathe.
Yes -- I'm hoping someone will post a tutorial of sorts, showing just how to do it.

Re: Metal slivers in your fingers
Another vote for duct tape. Might have to try it twice or 3x (if so, pull it off from the opposite direction) but it generally works. Also... to help see the sliver (if you're digging it out with tweezers or a point), put a drop of tincture of iodine on it. The iodine will creep down into the wound ...

Nothing in the "details" or "Q&A" that I could find. Here's the page with the three variations: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/barrel-blanks-tools/barrel-liners/22-caliber-rimfire-barrel-liners-prod10974.aspx Bewildering. I note there are no reviews for the ...

Re: Barrel Liner Drills ????
Kind of a tangential question. I was looking at the .22RF liners, and I see that one of them costs more than 2x what the others do. OK, it's 7" longer, but that oughtn't justify THAT much of a premium. Anybody here got a suggestion about that price differential ? BTW - I tried to post a questio...

Re: How to Get Shell of Drilled-Out Bolt Out of Part
Sounds like they had enough service calls for this exact problem, that someone decided "let's make the replacements out of something that will drill/split/drive out more easily". Of course introducing brass into the equation means that you might get electrolytic corrosion, so maybe it's no...

Re: Q Plastic Dyes
If you can get some turnings or scraps of the material, you probably can identify the plastic by one of several simple tests. Just don't breathe the fumes from a flame test -- if it's PVC, the fumes likely will contain some phosgene. Here are a couple of links: http://www.modernplastics.com/how_to_i...

Re: Q Plastic Dyes
When I was a kid, we used to dye model-airplane props (I think they were nylon) with RIT fabric dye. Might be worth a shot, although I wouldn't be betting on it dying PVC.

Re: converting a marquette 12-175 mig welder to flux core
My local Home Despot carries Lincoln flux-core wire. I'm not sure if it's cheaper or more expensive than at the local welding supply shop, but unless the difference was substantial, I'd tend to buy from the small independent guy.
