Re: Help with a H & G Diehead Manual

Rich, No luck on my end, the heads I have are all much bigger and a different style. From the pictures you put up , it looks as though everything is there on your head, it's just a matter of figuring out how it works. I did some looking around, Landis took over H&G, try this company: Internation...

Re: Help with a H & G Diehead Manual

Rich, I know I don't have a manual, but I may have a head, and chasers. I'll look tomorrow and see what I have and get back to you. I have 5 or 6 H& G heads of various sizes I think up to 1-1/2".

Re: More LED problems

OK Bill, to be fair I can't only bash China, I have to bash corporate American companies as well, as they are the ones that put profit for their shareholders before quality and the consumers. They are the ones that opened the door to having so much of what we buy be made in China. I'm not going to g...

Re: More LED problems

Notice where your power supply is made.....CHINA.....this is what our country gets for outsourcing everything.....low quality, cheap s..t, that doesn't work properly or last long. AND. Where is the UL rating or has that gone out the window as well?

Re: Gauge blocks

Go ahead, you can bash China......they are directly responsible for a lot of the junk out on the market. I was given 3 sets of Chinese made pin gages, every single one of them were rejected by being out of spec, hence I use them to check hole sizes that have no tolerances.......or throw them at the ...

Re: South Bend heavy 10

Southbend heavy 10 lathes had a proprietary spindle taper. Like Bill says, try Miller Machine & Fabricating, interesting that Miller lists the adaptors as " large taper". Yes there is a Morse 4.5 taper, but it was not commonly used. My Logan 11" uses a spindle adaptor , it is a 2 ...

Re: Seeking Information on Andy Clerici’s Allegheny

If not, my current plan would be to build from stock unless I can find others interested in making a few sets of castings. As someone who has spent a decent amount of time making patterns/castings and speaking with foundries I would agree that for a one off making as many parts out of bar stock as ...

Re: Seeking Information on Andy Clerici’s Allegheny

I for one would definitely be interested in "everything that you need to build one" Allegheny drawings if they are available, so how do "we" go about getting in touch with Ed Yungling? Any idea if they are for the full size or model?

Re: Seeking Information on Andy Clerici’s Allegheny

I have Jim's drawings and will check on the drivers, as compared to the Allegheny drawings in the book: The Allegheny Lima's Finest by Eugene Huddleston & Thomas Dixon. The Berkshire had 69" drivers as compared to 67" on the Allegheny, and the Berk had 25/26" x 34 bore and stroke ...

Re: LeBlond Lathe

Do yourself a favor, pull the collet cuck off and check the spindle taper. When I got my Leblond, the taper was all buggered up from chucks being installed without cleaning the taper first. I wound up having to regrind the spindle nose on mine .

Re: Seeking Information on Andy Clerici’s Allegheny

C & O historical society doesn't have the mechanical drawings for the Allegheny. I believe the California State Railroad museum does. To the best of my knowledge, Truson's drawings went to Roger Goldman but I may be wrong on that, Rob Gardner may have a better idea on that.
