Re: Heating Basement Shop
How about a "pellet" stove? They also make stoves that burn shelled corn. Should be able to heat that space on maybe 1/2 bushel of corn a day, and corn is about $2.50 a bushel if you have a good source locally. I believe some are efficient enough to vent through PVC pipe, similar to the hi...

Re: Will trade dumb question for smart answer
The "super spacer" we use does not have a handwheel for rotating to a specific angle. There are notched index plates that fit in the back of it. Different plates are available for different number of divisions required. A lever/pin is released, and the table is rotated by hand unttill the ...

Re: What is creep feed grinding?
Usually done with a wheel formed to the final shape of the part being made, or slotting hardened material.. Slow feed rate, high flow coolant and full depth in a single pass. Some "regular" surface grinders are capable of it, but more often machine made with that specific purpose in mind.

Re: Slitting Saws
The saws with side teeth will work MUCH better, IMHO, for that width/depth ratio. Without the side teeth the tooth gullets tend to clog and break the cutter with any kind of depth of cut. I would also get a stagger tooth cutter if possible... much freer, smoother cutting. End milling slots 4 X Dia. ...

Never tried it myself on those materials, but I think epoxy would work?

Re: Boring head question
Locating the machine spindle 1/2 the diameter (of your bore)away from a known point (e.g. above the table on a horizontal mill), and then setting the boring bar to just touch that point (using paper or feelers), should get you within .005. You will need a very rigid boring head/boring bar to get a d...

Re: suggestions,please
Brent, your idea should work. Drill and tap four holes on the face of your stock to match the slots in the faceplate. If you keep these holes shallow they should disappear when you machine the finished hub on the adapter. Once the stock is bolted to the faceplate (you migh need some shims if the sto...

Re: what is best coolet holder? er? flex? input needed
I like the TG style collets. They are considerably longer than the ER style, which seems to geve better grip and less runout. They are availible in "flex" type for odd diameters, "grip" type made for specific nominal end mill diameters, and "drive" type with an integral...
