Re: 2 1/2" scale 4-6-0 build

The bolts holes will be drilled thru the shell flange into the ring that was rolled. I often have wished I had a mag drill and this is one of those times. Dug out sheet metal roller which will be used for the jacket.
Rolled a 1/8"x1" strap .
It was welded to the smokebox and will bolt to the boiler.

The doall is up and running. With the right pitch 1/2" cuts fast.

Started on the swing link plates and links.
The doall saw belt gave up on me but if original I guess it was time. [1944]

Re: 2 1/2" scale 4-6-0 build

Marty and Glenn have produced a piece of locomotive jewelry but unfortunately it will wear a jacket. The craftmanship is amazing and I cannot say enough thanks to them.

Re: 2 1/2" scale 4-6-0 build

I want to start by saying Marty Knox has been a wealth of information for me on the building of this locomotive. There were some valve gear print issues which he and Ed Archer helped to resolve. Marty has at all steps kept me up to date. Thanks Marty!

Re: 2 1/2" scale 4-6-0 build

Hi Steve, the nipples are screwed into the cylinder inlets to keep me from dropping foreign material down the holes. I guess I should put the painters tape on top back on. Jim

Back to the smokebox for the blower line and for future exhaust of a steam pump.
