Re: MISSING ITEM FROM TRAIN MOUNTION VENDOR BOOTH
I think maybe getting a little off track here. It's possible that someone borrowed it to discuss it with someone else, and it is sitting on their tender... Or was... and got knocked off during their run... It's possible that it was misplaced, and could be within plain sight. A lot of things are poss...

Oh come now, you can't post this without sharing photos!
I hope in about 25 years, I am in a very good position to be able to attend many, if not all, highlight anniversaries - kids will be out of college (hopefully), I will have an engine done, or two.... And be able to take vacation!

Check with Alexander Karnes, who I believe purchased the Peter Nuskey business.

I've always thought that having a portable 3/4" & 1" track at Cabin Fever would be a tremendous hit!Marty_Knox wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 7:56 pmI have built a 60' portable elevated track for 3 1/2" and 4 3/4" gauge, but right now it is only used to store my small gauge equipment.

Re: Historic 1" live steam 1970's southern MN
The John Woods estate (ATT&NW) had a 2-1/2" gauge live steam engine that was a mantlepiece. One of the steam gurus there determined that it would not run again without extensive work. Little did I know until it sold at auction that it was a LE locomotive until after the auction. Unfortunately someon...

Re: MSC free shipping code
Since when did msc ever have free shipping ???...sales must be way down ?? Enco used to have them all the time. Then MSC shut Enco down. Steve I miss Enco. They had some amazing sales. I recall one December in 2015-2016 where I was able to buy bar steel (full 6ft sticks) at 50% off and had free shi...

Buying a new chuck...
Hello I have a Sheldon 10" (or 11"? either way) lathe that I'd like to get a new 4-jaw chuck for as the one I've got is rather worn out (or so I think). I've never had to source a chuck before, but I could use insight on how to shop for one, as well as what to know when sourcing one. I am aware of t...

It will go somewhere, I'm sure.... When the family accepts the highest offer. What that is, remains to be seen.

Re: "If at first you don't succeed..." Indiana Northern #4- Allen 0-4-0
Absolutely pin them together if you can. I don't think I did it on mine, but I'm OK with that. You just need to remember to purchase endmills with a long enough cutting surface in order to be able to cut the entire thickness. I've seen it happen where folks forget and then they have a small lip at t...

Re: "If at first you don't succeed..." Indiana Northern #4- Allen 0-4-0
The Webb mill in the shop will do just fine, Sam. Give yourself plenty of vertical clearance between the frames and the table so that you can machine the frames in one pass - don't clamp directly to the table. Clamp on top of your spacers, not elsewhere. I used a few pieces of known dimensional mate...
