Re: Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

If it's a flat belt. I just would run a knurling tool across at face of it.
If a vee belt I would increase the size of both pulleys, to keep the ratio.

Re: Key stock for axles and drivers?

Glenn, Setscrews are used to hold the wheel to the axle, Not in lieu of a broached keyway and key to transmit the power.

Re: Electric drive motor specs

This is an interesting project. My chair has two 600W 3/4HP motors. The chair weight is just short of 200, and I add 150. At full speed of 6mph, any grade slows me down. A grade of 1:6 is a crawl, (And the wheelie bars are in full use.) Electronic speed controllers are great but at large amperage ne...

Re: Pacific turn radius

I will first try to give the leading truck to have a larger lateral movement. As built it moves only .125" of center. If that doesn't work looks like 25' radius or more is the fix.

Pacific turn radius

Planning a small track layout in the back yard for my 4.75 gauge pacific 4-6-2. First I put the loco on a 20 foot radius turn played out in the garage, and pushed the loco through. With no front or rear trucks it worked fine. No problem with wheels climbing the rail. Now with both trucks attached, c...

Yes, these will be copied from the LE that I have. No idea of cost yet, much will depend on volume produced. Cost of the foundry #1.

1" scale steam dome. Turret

I am going to have some steam domes, sand domes and turret covers cast for me. While there is only one set I need, looking to see if there is any interest out there for them. These will be copies of the domes on my LE Pacific, which is a 1" scale. Cast will be done in AL. The patterns will be done i...

Re: Swanton pacific

Looks really bad. Any copper and brass melted, glass melted. Any heat treated materials like springs is now annealled. Any braze soldering is a gone. Years ago I bought a car that had been on fire, that was just an engine fire. The sheet metal was all wrinkled, hood fenders and was replace. The carb...

Re: Machining a bell for better tone

This post reminds me of a story my grandfather told me. His dad was a building manager of the town hall in a small town in Germany. As such he hired the guys that rang the bells in the town's bell tower. One day a guy shows up in reply to a job opening for a bell ringer. Problem is the guy has no ar...

Re: 1" Little Engines Atlantic/Pacific Guidance

There are many members on here that have built pacific/Atlantic models.
I have one started, and one almost finished.

Both Pacifica.

LE plans 1" pacific

I have an incomplete set of plans. Along with an incomplete 1" pacific, and an almost running pacific.

Of course I can use the complete unit to copy from, but there differences between as built and plans.

Missing drawings are # 10, 14, 16, 17, 18.
