The C&NW used flange unions on the plumbing. I was expecting to to have to make them. But when I asked Dave for the drawings of the threads we both found out that Berry already thought of it. Here is what they look like. You can get them from Super Scale.

I have seen aircraft set for years with Alodine and then get painted without a problem.

As an aircraft painter would etch and alodine the aluminum. Tack rag. Then apply epoxy polyamide primer. Or you can use Scott-brite then wash the part with water until you have a break free surface let it dry. They use a tack rag to wipe the surface. Then the self etching primer. I like PPG DP-40. A...
