Thanks for the input! One of my big issues right now is finding a place to have the foundry. My front and back yards are covered entirely with grass, and the only other parts of my property is my driveway, and my house. I'm sure I could probably find a place nearby to do it, though.

I plan on getting into using a foundry as a hobby soon, and I want to be able to be the absolute safest that I can. Right now, I don't know a whole lot on things that can go wrong and ways to prevent them. To me, the most important thing is protecting my hands, so I would appreciate suggestions for ...

So for where I live, I live in the town of Peekskill. I live in a neighborhood with the houses within 20 ft of eachother. Each house does have a decently sized front and backyard, though. Legality of owning a personal foundry.
I want to create a small, personal foundry for private use where I live. I live in New York. I would like to know if it is legal to own a foundry and melt metal here, or if I would need to get a license of some kind.
