Re: Lubricator

I like the idea of making it hand operated. Give a few pumps during steam up. I’ll still lube up all the outside moving parts with a hand oil can. I just wanted something to get the pain in the butt places while on the ground.

Re: Lubricator

They are brass journal bearings. They have a stem to add oil, they’re just hard to get to with an oil can w/flex hose. I may just re-fab the stem to be longer and more accessible.

Thanks for the input on the lubricator. Pretty much solidified my original worry about too much oil.

Re: Lubricator

Oil on rails is what I’m afraid would happen.

I don’t 100% know what material they are, I wasn’t the builder of this engine. But the oil points are such a pain to get to, almost impossible to do off a stand.

So I was just curious and wanted to ask more experienced steamers.

Lubricator

Would it be silly to add a mechanical lubricator to supply oil to the main journal bearings? Would excess oil be an issue dripping on the tracks? Just a thought

Re: Classification lenses

I wish I could order glass ones for my engine. These are more 12mm diameter. Smallest I see on that eBay post is 50mm.

Classification lenses

Not sure if there is a previous thread about this. I do recall someone else giving me the part#. But here is how well these lenses fit and how good they look. Part number to light cover is CR104PXL07C Found a few on eBay I trimmed off the cap with my band saw. Then took the edge to a bench grinder t...

Re: WTB classification lense

If you can't find what you need from live steam sources, years ago someone posted here that there is a GE push button lens the end of which can be cut off and used. The lens has circular grooves in its backside similar to the Fresnel lenses that were used in the lamps. The part number is CR104PXL07...

WTB classification lense

I’m looking for a set of engine classification lamp lenses. I have no idea what make these are but I think they are 1.5” scale. Looks like Pyle style lamps. Any info where I can find lenses would be great.

I’ve seen a couple places that sell the whole lamp but all I need is the lenses!!
