Re: Identification
Thanks for all the information :). I was hoping to find scale drawings for 5" loco. The H10 popped on my radar, but it is a 7 1/4 gauge, bigger than I am looking for. Also I like the Kozo K27, but it is 3 1/2 gauge. I will have to stick to drawing up the BR55 which I am a fair way through, lots...

Hi,
What railroad would have had this locomotive? Is it a Baldwin? Can you get plans for a 5" in this particular variant?
Thanks
Ian

Re: Alternative Fuels
There are quite a few videos on YouTube of people burning sawdust and waste oil combo in a house heater, not sure how good it would be in our application???

Re: BR55/G8.1 Locomotive Project

So if you have a throttle in the dome...what is it you are seeking?

Re: BR55/G8.1 Locomotive Project
Thanks RussN good to know.
Bill, not sure what BvB stands for? I will have a throttle in the steam dome and the throttle shaft mounted on the backhead.
Regards

Re: BR55/G8.1 Locomotive Project
Steam regulator type: Does the prototype loco you are modeling have a steam dome throttle/regulator or a front end (smokebox) throttle? There are versions for both. And are you seeking to replicate the original prototype design or make an operating model? There exist excellent operating versions fo...

Re: BR55/G8.1 Locomotive Project
Is a rotary or linear valve best for a steam regulator? I think linear myself.
I think the either design is fairly simple, but wondering what I do not know (which is a lot!).
I will draw something up and post.

Re: BR55/G8.1 Locomotive Project
Hi Dick, I think you are right! I have put in a picture of an original drawing, all the info I have. As mentioned above I am not going to get to fussy as there were many variations. Regards Ian You may have some challenges finding drawings for a Westinghouse brake cylinder for a locomotive. In the U...

Re: BR55/G8.1 Locomotive Project
Hi Brain, I have original drawings, but that is it. I assume a bit was left up to the builders of the locomotive to make their own decisions. G8_1 Brake Cylinder.JPG I have got a 1:32 model, but no decent details on it either. I have drawn a brake cylinder that might pass a quick visual inspection. ...
