Re: Update On My PRR K-4 Project

Looks like a Moes loco works pump. I think Dave Scalvi has one too. I remember him writing they need some fine tuning and machine work clean up to work right.

full size engines get pumped up to 1.25X operating pressure with room temp or even warm water.

Re: Sweet Creek Mogul Boiler Question

Why do you need to maintain the code nature of the boiler? Have you tried giving someone like Marty Knox, Wayne Godshall, etc a call and see what they would charge for the work? I'd think a brand new sweet creek boiler - non code- would be under 10K for an entire brand new boiler. I don't think ther...

Re: Atlantic locomotive

is there any visual difference in a "saturated" vs superheated e6 variant as a model?
Was thinking that only 1 e6 was built as a saturated locomotive and that the production run, including the famous linbergh 460 were all superheated.

Re: Sweet Creek Mogul Boiler Question

does the new work that needs to be done, need to be done in a manner so as to maintain the code stamp?

Sure it started out as a code boiler, but there's probably no reason for the shortening, firebox work to be done in a manner that will retain the code rating. that'll just increase $$ spend.

Re: filling a hot boiler

always thought a 6 inch scale or even 9 inch scale would make a neat size for a traction engine. Basically the size of a old Ford 8n or massey 135.

Re: Atlantic locomotive

Weren't some of these castings designed to also be used in a PRR 4-8-2? or was that a separate set of patterns?

Re: I’m in need of some 10” driver castings

Bob Dean's website doesn't appear to be up to date, but I'm 85% sure he offers 10 inch boxpok drivers, what he used on his CofG 4-8-4. https://bobdeansupply.com/livesteam.html Might be worth shooting him a call or email. Also Real Trains offers these: http://www.realtrains.com/files/86017089.pdf Not...

Re: 2.5" scale "Fulton" 4-4-0 castings now available from Allen Models

Always thought a 2.5 scale ET&WNC 4-6-0 would be a really neat engine. Made quite popular by the Bachmann g scale engine put in many starter sets etc.

It would make a neat dummy detail casting set for someone like Mike V or others to offer.

Re: I’m in need of some 10” driver castings

I think Bob Dean makes/made some, as well as Roger Goldmann, maybe even Real Trains had some Lima style 10 inch. Don't quote me on it... but good luck!

Re: filling a hot boiler

Exactly... there was no real need to blow it down. just leave it and let it cool.
