And some coat the foam with a thin slurry mix of typical household sparkling compound. This helps retain the rigidity against the loose sand, and keeps the surface smooth. Don't compact.

I do not know what it is.... but I Don't believe that it is a spike puller. Not for pulling spikes in a normal situation.
