Re: Arizona Grand Scale Railway Society
What is “funding” ?? Hahaha. Actually, one of our board members thinks we can acquire decorative cement block in large quantities for free from his son‘s company. If so we’ve got the lion share of our materials cost covered. And we have two or three cement Masons who are club members who can help di...

Re: Arizona Grand Scale Railway Socie
Denis Larrick in Cincinnati has been helping us out with some remote site design work in CAD. He has drawn up a roundhouse for us to begin permitting work for phase 2. We are planning on 7 stalls in the round house and 6 covered sidings opposite the turntable, that will be located adjacent to the ou...

Re: mystery truck castings
I saw some truck frames recently just like these at an estate. The owners said his dad acquired them 40 years ago. Interesting to know they came from cannonball. primary supplier to the Hobby in those days.

Re: Liability insurance
FYI, We do have another, older thread on private insurance here on Chaski. In that tread I reported on half dozen speciality insurance brokers who insure amusements and parks. Almost all will quote liability insurance for commercial miniature train operations only, but not live steam clubs or privat...

Dave, what do the two holes do in the outer, top edge of the casting? Iam guessing they might be lube openings for the bearings??

Here, turning down an old turn of the century 6” double flange wheel. Made four of them to act as casters on my turntable.

My Dalton 7, made around 1919. Still going strong, except the OEM 5” chuck finally bit the dirt- jaws finally wore out and can’t hold better than .010” concentricity. Can’t complain as they served well for 100 years.

Re: Arizona Gandy Dancers
Dennis Larrick in Cincinnati has generously offered to work up CAD drawings of our future roundhouse. He got so enthused with the project that we now have elevation and planimetric and 3D views of the roundhouse, passenger station, and engine maintenance shed - all with a Spanish, southern motif. He...

A local Pa news article said they mix 15% new iron in with their recycled stuff to ensure consistency. The article reported they import this new iron from Russia and Austria.
